Inspiration

Log back into your Pinterest account: You will need to use your Pinterest account again. After logging into your account create a board named “Infographics.” Check out my “Infographics” Pinterest board (Please don’t repin more than two of my pins for this activity): http://pinterest.com/lybberte/infographics/

If you forgot, here is a video that will demonstrate how to create a Pinterest board: http://youtu.be/CCelCpP2wqc

Pin Infographic Examples: Search Pinterst, Google, or anywhere else on the web for some good examples/inspiration on infographics. This will help the creative juices to start flowing. You will need to pin/repin a minimum of 10 infographic examples.

Selecting a Topic

Your infographic can be on almost any topic that is suitable for a prospective employer to view on your final portfolio website. Also make this BYU-Idaho appropriate.

First narrow down what type of infographic you would like to create. Find multiple examples of this topic and pin them on your Pinterest board. Next, choose a topic that you are passionate about! This will help and inspire you to produce your best work.

Crafting a Hook

A hook grabs the readers attention and summarizes what the main idea of the infographic is. This is often the title of the infographic. After deciding your topic, take time to come up with 3 variations of your hook. Here are some example hooks:

  • Whaling is a Big Issue
  • How to avoid a Social Media Crisis
  • Geek vs Nerd
  • Traditional Books vs Digital Readers
  • The State of Seattle
  • How to Buy a Used Car
  • Things you may not know about the imperiled Polar Bear
  • DWI: Driving While Intexticated
  • Coming to America
  • Nintendo Game System Release Timeline
  • Top 10 Editing Tips
