Podcast Music

Introduction

This portion of the project can be really fun. You will be required to make at least 20 seconds of music for inclusion in your project. Don’t worry, you don’t need to know much about music. You will be using Garageband to create/mix existing loops to create your music.

Creating Garageband Music

Download and follow the GarageBand Tutorial along with the in-class demo to create your own music/audio track in GarageBand. You need a minimum of 20 seconds total of music at the beginning and end of your podcast. Save it as an mp3 to compress the file size. Some of you might be interested in a few available Free GarageBand loops online.

Watch the following video tutorial for a visual overview of Garageband loops:

Insert Music into Podcast

Follow the iMovie Podcasting tutorial to save your music as an MP3 and insert it on the first Audio track in your iMovie project. The music should be just below the images you placed on the video track. Be sure to fade out the end of your music as instructed in the tutorial. Also, be sure you extend your last slide longer than your audio, so you do not end on a black slide. It is important to end with your name (contact information) and credits for sources.

Export a compressed video

Use the iMovie Podcasting tutorial (Last page) to export your project as a compressed mp4 file. This tutorial will walk you through how to compress your video under 5mb. This will act as practice for your final project that all needs to be under 5mb.
